Biblical Promises

Thirty-nine biblical promises gathered into five families, in the spirit of Charles Spurgeon's Faith's Checkbook. Two families now available in English; the others are on their way.

Family 1 · 6 promises  ·  Who Is God?
The promises of God find their Yes in him
Promise 1
The Promises of God
All the promises of God find their Yes in him. They have an anchor point, a body, a cross. You are not invited to believe in sentences — you are invited to hold on to a person.
2 Corinthians 1:20
Key verse

“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.”

2 Corinthians 1:20 (ESV)

Whoever has seen me has seen the Father
Promise 2
Who Is Jesus?
We all carry an image of Jesus in our heads. But one day the real question returns: deep down, who is He? He answers by pointing to His own person.
John 14:9
Key verse

“Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.”

John 14:9 (ESV)

The Helper, the Holy Spirit, who stands beside
Promise 3
Who Is the Holy Spirit?
Not a force, but a presence. Jesus called Him the Helper — literally, "the one who stands beside." His discretion is not absence: it is His own way of being God with you.
John 14:26
Key verse

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

John 14:26 (ESV)

Genesis 2:7
Key verse

“The LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”

Genesis 2:7 (ESV)

1 John 1:9 (ESV)

1 John 1:7 (ESV)
