There are two ways to be guided. The trainer’s way, leading the animal by bit and bridle, without its understanding. And the father’s way, who explains, who shows, who keeps his child in view. God chooses the second.
“My eye upon you”: this is not a controller’s surveillance, it is the attention of love. We do not take our eyes off what we cherish.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”
Psalm 32:8
The next verse warns: do not be like the horse or the mule, without understanding, which must be curbed. God would rather speak to you than constrain you. But for that, you must lend an ear.
His guidance often comes through his Word, read unhurried, and through the inner peace that confirms or holds back. Give him something to speak through, and he will show you.
