God Teaches Us the Truth
“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:31-32 (ESV)
In a world saturated with contradictory information, mass opinions, and emotional marketing, truth seems a fragile good. Whom should we believe? Which voice should we listen to? Jesus' promise does not give us one more "truth" to add to the pile — it gives us a dwelling.
Truth is not gained by reading more, nor by debating better; it is received by inhabiting the Word over the long haul. That is why it sets you free: it dislodges you from the lies you have been sold about God, about yourself, about the world. You do not have to know everything at once. Abide — that is, remain — and you will learn.
Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.
Psalm 25:5 (ESV)
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6 (ESV)
