Jesus Erases All Our Sins

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

1 John 1:7 (ESV)

When we have finished naming what weighs, a doubt often invites itself: "alright, some are forgiven. But that one? And that other one?" Human logic continues to rank faults — serious, very serious, unforgivable. God's logic does not work like that.

The blood of Jesus, says John, cleanses us from all sin. Not part of it. Not just the smallest. There is no secret reserve God keeps against you for later. If God forgives, He forgives — and He chooses, in the strong sense of the word, no longer to remember it. You can move forward without dragging the sack. That is precisely what the cross has freed you from.

Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

Isaiah 1:18 (ESV)

He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

Micah 7:19 (ESV)

I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.

Hebrews 10:17 (ESV)
