God's Protection and My Needs
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
There is a sometimes subtle difference between a need and a desire. The month an unexpected bill comes, the two can blend in your mind — what you really lack and what would simply please you. God does not promise to grant all your wishes; He commits to providing for your needs. And the line between the two — He knows it better than you do.
His faithfulness in this zone is stubborn: through an unforeseen encounter, a gift received from elsewhere, an opening you did not expect, He arranges for what is necessary to reach you. Not always in the form you imagined. Often at the moment you were about to let go.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
Psalm 34:10 (ESV)
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:3 (ESV)
