There are kinds of loneliness that have nothing to do with being alone. You can be in the midst of your family and feel alone; you can pray without feeling anything and wonder whether you are talking to a wall. Jesus’ promise is not an emotion, it is a fact: I am with you.
His presence does not depend on what you feel at the moment, nor on the climate of your day. It depends on the faithfulness of the One who promised it. In bright days as in opaque ones, always, He is there — including the days when you yourself cannot manage to say so.
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20
