I Need God in My Life

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

John 15:5 (ESV)

There are moments when you touch with your finger that you are not self-sufficient. A decision beyond you, a relationship that breaks, a weakness that returns despite your resolutions. This recognition is not a defeat — it is lucidity. Jesus does not say "you can do little without me," He says "you can do nothing."

It is a word that could crush, if it were not accompanied by another: "abide in me." The branch does not bear fruit by gritting its teeth; it bears fruit because it stays connected. Your need for God is not a spiritual infirmity to overcome — it is your true measure. Recognized, it becomes a doorway into the life He offers.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:25-26 (ESV)

Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

John 6:68 (ESV)

I believe; help my unbelief!

Mark 9:24 (ESV)
